In literacy we have been learning how to write an explanation text. We learnt how a tadpole becomes a frog. Here we are painting the life cycle of a frog with Mrs Trotman.

Literacy Week

Miss Waeland organised a whole week of literacy themed activities with World Book Day on Thursday.

We practised our re-telling of The Gruffalo with signs for our World Book Day assembly. Here we are in the mainstream class painting characters from The Gruffalo.

Wonderful news!  One of our children’s parents has been sharing the wonderful work we do here at Percy Shurmer Academy in our respected hearing resource base with the NDCS.  Check out the feature in their latest bulletin.  Special mention goes to Nicola D’Urso who has devised a program for hearing impairment and speech dyspraxia.  The results through partnership between the specialist teacher of the deaf, speech and language therapist, parent and child have been wonderful to witness.

Sorting

In numeracy we have been learning how to sort. We have been learning the difference between a square and a rectangle.

We have been learning to sort by shape and colour:

Can you tell what criteria we are using to sort in our Venn diagram?
